Care for your Cover
Saving money and saving the environment

By simply reducing a pool’s water evaporation losses, a Sancell Pool Cover can cut down pool maintenance, chemical usage and heating costs, help conserve precious water resources and reduce production of greenhouse gases.

The Sancell range of pool covers can reduce evaporative water by up to 97%. And if there is no need to top up a pool’s water level, there is no need to re-adjust the pool’s chemical balance so frequently.

Making a Sancell Pool Cover last
All pool covers have an expiry date. However depending on how well you take care of your cover you can ensure it has a longer life and better protection.

Cleaning
All you need to clean a Sancell Solar Pool Cover or Thermal Pool Cover is a soft brush and clean cold water. Any time it is planned to store the cover it’s important to make sure to hose it off with clean cold water.

This will prevent chlorine build-up which can be damaging. Although not as damaging, mildew or algae build-up can be easily removed with a light scrubbing.

Handling
To take the hassle out of adding and removing the cover we recommend purchasing one of Sancell’s Pool Rollers. Not only do these take the back work out of handling a pool cover, they also add a pleasing aesthetic to any pool cover making it a convenient and cost effective way to protect the pool.

If there is no roller the pool cover is best installed and removed with two people and folded in a concertina fashion. If only one person is available they can install or remove cover from the centre following that same folding process.
  Storage
When storing the cover for a long period of time, such as over winter, allow it to dry first to prevent the growth of mould and mildew.

A Sancell Solar Pool Cover should be protected from high temperatures and direct sunlight. All plastic materials will naturally deteriorate when exposed to sunlight, and a swimming area is one of the harshest environments for any plastic product – sunlight, chlorine and heat will all take their toll on the UV stabilising system in the pool cover. To enable a longer life, care must be taken of any Sancell Pool Cover.

If a roller is purchased a UV over cover is also provided which will completely cover the Sancell Roller and Cover to protect it from the harsh UV radiation.

What not to do
Never leave a folded cover out in direct sunlight. The UV radiation and heat can have a detrinmental effect on the cover and can play a large part in premature deterioration of the cover.

If no roller is purchased which includes the UV over cover please make sure that you store the cover in complete shade. Even a small amount of UV can affect the quality of a pool cover.

Important points to remember
• Operate filter during the hottest part of the day.
• Remove cover when super chlorinating (Replace after 3 hours).
• Never leave your pool cover in direct sunlight when not on the pool.
• When not in use store cover and roller in a shaded area.
• Always use the approved over cover on the cover when stored on the roller.
